new moon intention setting: what is it and how do I get started?
The new moon is here. A new moon cycle is a new start, a new beginning. Imagine the feeling you have in the beginning of January when a new year awaits. You probably have some wishes and dreams for the coming year ahead. The same energy of enthusiasm and “let’s go” can be applied when we work with intention setting at new moon. Instead of one time of year, here you get 12 new moons cycles where you check-in with yourself, your feelings and your dreams. Twelve opportunities to start over, begin again and set the right direction for your life with the rhythm of the moon. I am often asked what it means to set new moon intentions and how I do it. I understand, if you have never worked with the moon before it can be difficult to know where to start, so let me share some tips on how I got started.
Okay, you have a feeling inside of wanting to take your life in s conscious direction. You feel drawn to working with the moon and you have gotten your moon journal, now what. How do you get started with setting intentions.
The first time I set intentions; I was in a place in my life where I felt like life was running me and not the other way around. I considered life quite linear and was always on my way to “the next”, but truth is, I had no idea what next was. I began working with the moon and see my life as part of a bigger cycle. Beginning of each moon cycle I set time aside to look at how I wanted to live my life and what I needed to do in order to get where I wanted be. If you are new to moon journaling and not sure how to get started keep reading..
how do I start with intention setting?
first, you become aware of what you want in life. What do you dream about? How does the life you want feel when you close your eyes?
second, find out small steps or to-dos in order to get started.
third, use the energy of the moon to make sure you keep the promise to yourself - and to the moon.
Intentions can be all kinds of things. They can be practical and hands-on, spiritual, mindset focused, big or small. What matters is that you sit down and reflect upon which direction you want your life to take, what dreams of yours can you start building and then reflect on how you can get started doing more things that make you happy.
a couple of examples of new moon intentions:
In this cycle I will start every morning by mentioning 3 things I am grateful for before I get out of bed
I would like to extend my community with likeminded people that share my interests
My intention is to get real with my financial situation
My intention is to be able to run 5 km within the next two months
My intention is to find another career path
My intention is to prioritize more me time
Some people write down their intentions and burn them, but I want to capture mine in the journal so I can always look back and remind myself how far I have come.
Regardless, I wish you a beautiful new moon
best,
Stine
